We are looking for a full time or part time Exotic and Avian veterinarian for our growing, progressive 100 % small mammal, avian, and exotics practice located just north of Chicago. We have approximately 45 % rabbit, 25% avian, and 20% reptile/amphibian patients along with teacup potbelly pigs, other assorted small mammals, and fish. We service some small private zoo collections and have the occasional house call for them. Once trained for it, pond calls are also part of our practice. We would like an energetic motivated individual to add to our growing 6-doctor AAHA practice. We practice high quality exotic and avian medicine and surgery. We have state of the art equipment in a new facility and a well-trained staff. Our location is near a 24-hour veterinary emergency building so that means no after hours or weekend on calls. Clinician responsibility includes daily clinical services for avian and exotic species. Once weekly, each clinician has a dedicated surgery day. Additional procedures may occur as needed. Mentoring is what we do. Continuing education is part of the package.
A DVM with at least 1 year of experience and is proficient in medical diagnostics, surgery, and rabbit dentistry is preferred. However, highly-driven recent grads will be seriously considered.

Our hospital has the capability of serving all sorts of animals from the smallest fish to the largest reptiles. Our warm exotic ICU features avian incubators, reptilian incubators (aquatic and not), fish and amphibian ICU tanks, avian nebulizer units, and inline oxygen for all ...cages. Outside the warm room, we have comfortable cages for all the soft fuzzy and not so fuzzy mammals and marsupials. We are especially bird friendly! Our in house diagnostic capability includes full blood and chemistry work, cytology, radiology, endoscopy, ultrasound, and surgery. We offer the opportunity for unique species to receive competent and compassionate veterinary care. Cases are seen by appointment, but emergency patients are gladly accepted as the need arises.
