This Practice Manager will be responsible for managing our Emergency practice, as part of a team. The Practice Manager will be responsible for leading the day to day operations of the hospital. The Practice Manager needs to lead by example to motivate and inspire the team to provide an excellent experience for our clients and their pets. Our hospital uses state of the art equipment. The hospital owner is on-site and responsive to concerns and requests of the doctors and staff. Essential Duties & Responsibilities •Review and Provide time sheet hours to the Human Resource manager. Staff recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, counseling, and terminations. •Manage annual performance evaluations. Responsible for performance evaluations for supervised staff with the assistance of the department lead. •Develop, implement, and maintain Employee Safety and Disaster Plan procedures and manuals. •Assure compliance with OSHA and Workers’ Compensation programs. •Distribute all necessary communication materials with staff, including policy changes, relevant information discussed at meetings, and client feedback. •Ensure a positive hospital culture. Marketing & Client Relations •Community outreach to referring veterinary practices and owner groups. •Maintain, and when necessary, amend client education handouts. •Respond to client concerns in a timely and appropriate manner. Resolve medical client complaints in partnership with the lead veterinarian and staff. •Implement local marketing activities in partnership with management team. General Hospital Management •Keep management team informed of all relevant issues regarding staff, client issues, premises or equipment needs, etc. •Work together with inventory manager with regards to purchasing and management within budget guidelines. •Assure premises, plant and equipment are in safe, clean and optimum working condition, including the scheduling of regular maintenance. •Assure compliance with all regulatory issues. •Schedule and attend all required meetings, including staff meetings and the hospital leadership team meeting. •Monitor the hospital communications. •Manage the hospital practice management system. •Complete additional hospital projects as assigned. Financial •Proactively monitor financial progress of hospital, analyze results, and adjust, if necessary, to comply with revenue to payroll percentages. •Manage bi-weekly payroll process with regards to proper scheduling. Additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications: •2+ years’ experience in a managerial role •Certified Veterinary Practice Manager or in process preferred •Previous experience in an emergency veterinary practice is preferred but not required •Strong interpersonal communication skills •Experience in marketing & social media •Strong leadership analytical qualities •Strong administrative and organizational skills •Excellent written and verbal communications skills •Flexible and can adapt quickly •Problem solver, especially when dealing with conflict resolution Experience with Cornerstone software a plus. This position is primarily from 4pm to midnight and will include weekend shifts.
