We are looking for a full-time Registered/Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the SPCA of Wake County’s brand new spay/neuter team to help make a difference in our community and homeless pets’ lives every day!
Qualified applicants must be licensed in the state of North Carolina and will have at least one year of experience in a veterinary setting with surgical assisting and anesthetic experience preferred. Responsibilities include administering pre-surgery medications and induction of anesthesia, as well as the surgical preparation of patients, anesthetic monitoring and recovery. Skills such as restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement and intubation for canines and felines are a necessity.
Also required of all applicants: Excellent interpersonal skills and friendliness! A positive attitude and collaborative, team-oriented spirit! A strong history of reliability and stable employment. A passion for the mission of the SPCA of Wake County: To transform the lives of pets and people through protection, care, education, and adoption.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of common veterinary terminology, canine and feline body language and humane animal handling techniques.
Excellent judgment and communication skills.
Ability to read and follow instructions and to deliver instructions clearly verbally and in writing.

Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented.
Capable of balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Effective leadership skills and the ability to direct the medical assistant team.

Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds throughout the day. Must be able to carry heavier loads with assistance.
Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly.
Additional Salary Information: Pay rate is commensurate with experience.
