Part Time or Full Time - Any experience level considered
DVM or equivalent
Northeast Veterinary Hospital is offering positions for small animal associate veterinarians. We are 45-60 min north of Athens and 1 hour from Atlanta, in the mountains and near the lakes (considered Georgia's outdoor playground). We are an AAHA accredited hospital offering the highest quality medicine and care, with the equipment and supplies to do so.
Our hospital owners are internship trained at the Animal Medical Center in NYC. They spent over 14+ years combined working at a specialty and emergency hospital near Philadelphia with primary care and management of the sickest pets while being mentored by specialist. As a result we have a lot to offer to help advance an associate's career and skill set. Our hospital is a great place for a new grad, recent grad, or experienced vet to practice modern medicine in an environment that fosters innovation and new ideas (please bring some with you!). We are not an internship but we round on cases and teach daily, treat and manage critical cases, and perform advanced surgeries that you would normally only see in a referral setting. Traveling boarded surgeons perform our orthopedic cases (TPLOs, fracture repairs, etc) and more complicated soft tissue surgeries. We encourage our associates to scrub in, assist, and learn (should they want to). We have an ultrasound on site for your immediate use - for cystos and quick scans of trauma cases or suspect bleeding masses. However, we also utilize a traveling ultrasound group to do our complicated abdominal scans (read by a boarded radiologist) and echocardiograms (read and consulted on by a cardiologist). We have dental x-ray and are known for our dental work and oral surgery (extractions of any tooth in the mouth, fracture repairs, and oral mass removals). In addition, we have a great relationship with the exotic pet store in town and they send us all their customers (for the associate interested in advancing their exotic experience). We feel we have a great team that is upbeat and provide quality care in a rural area that otherwise wouldn’t have access to such care without venturing to the city.
Our hospital is well stocked with additional supplies needed in an emergency situation or a prolonged critical care situation: low molecular weight heparin, clopidogrel, anti-venom, pressors (dobutamine, dopamine, etc), hetastarch, all reversals available for the anesthesia and pain control drugs we stock, etomidate, plasma, blood collection and administration, IV KEPPRA, and more
Equipment includes: digital dental and whole body radiography, ultrasound, Companion cold laser therapy, in-house bloodwork, iSTAT blood gas machine, PT, VetPro 1000 dental unit, electroacupuncture, capnography, Doppler blood pressure, tonopen, PT/rehab equipment, and more.
Our ideal associates have a passion for saving lives and are excited to engage in a challenging case. A positive, "can do" attitude is a must. If you get that "rush" when a hit by car comes in, we are the place for you!
Competitive benefits including 3 weeks of vacation, retirement plan, allotted CE funds, and salary with production-based bonus.
If interested, please send resume, cover letter and letters of reference to firstname.lastname@example.org 706-778-1900. We would love to hear from you!
