REACH Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Hospital Administrator to join our growing team!
REACH (Referral and Emergency Animal Care Hospital) is the only veterinary hospital in Asheville and western North Carolina solely dedicated to providing emergency and specialty medicine 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our doctors and staff are trained and experienced specifically in emergency medical care and specialty veterinary medicine. We are prepared and equipped to handle both minor and critical emergencies, as well as providing ongoing support for chronic illnesses and injuries.

The Hospital Administrator is a leader and an integral member of the veterinary hospital management team. The Hospital Administrator partners with the Medical Director and hospital leadership team to provide a smooth and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on outstanding, progressive patient care and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include complete oversight, strategic planning, and coordinating the overall operations of the hospital, and cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment with all department leads and staff. We are looking for a visionary that can assist this high volume/ high growth hospital with its even bigger goals for the future.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Planning
Acts as a champion for change and identifies, documents, shares, and promotes best practices.
Participates in the planning and budget maintenance process.
Establishes goals for the practice and staff and is a visionary for the forward, progressive growth of the hospital.
Oversees the creation of the hospital schedule and management of labor costs to budget.
Oversees HR Administrator with employee benefits program and hospital insurance plans.
Develops and implements hospital policy, including DEA/Controlled Substances and OSHA compliance.
Ensures the quality of internal and external communications inclusive of the referring veterinary community, clients and the community-at-large.
Ensures the functionality of all hospital systems including computer systems, telecommunications, imaging, laboratory and more.
Partners with the Medical Director and department leads to address staffing needs including hiring, training, reviewing, and disciplining of staff.
Implements performance-based incentive and rewards and recognition programs.
Ensures accurate tracking and maintenance of current licensure for all DVMs and RVTs.
Establishes and maintains employee management policies and protocols in keeping with state and federal laws and guidelines.
Establishes best practices and protocols to insure the highest level of client service.
Oversees the resolution of client issues and escalations and insures client follow-up communication.
Drives client visits through strategic client communication and local marketing efforts (i.e. Community).
Works diligently to manage the hospital’s online reputation through monitoring of reviews, comments and feedback.
Oversees HR Administrator to ensure payroll is accurately completed and submitted for all hospital staff.
Oversees the management of accounts receivable and cash on hand, including performing invoice audit reviews.
Oversees the management of hospital inventory and controls facility and administrative costs.
Oversees and performs other duties essential to the performance of the hospital as needed.
Master's degree in business or related degree is preferred.
5-7 years of experience in an administrative role, including customer service experience and leading a large team.
Certified Veterinary Practice Management (CVPM) is preferred.
Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:
Multi-functional operations including budget and labor management.
Manage time and tasks appropriately and remain flexible with assigned duties.
Supervisory and leadership experience.
Reporting and data analysis.
Problem solving and resolution management skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Solid computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office suite (Previous practice management software knowledge preferred).
Exceptional interpersonal skills with staff and clients, and ability to work well in a team environment.
Implements customer service strategies and effective marketing techniques.
Implements HR policies and protocol development.
Oversees staff management including: coaching, developing, and motivating staff.
Oversees performance appraisals.
Ability to delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team members.
Make decisions confidently and effectively.
Models a professional, courteous and positive manner with staff and clients.
