Beckoning Cat Project is a nonprofit spay/neuter clinic for cats. Since Jan. 2014 we have spayed or neutered over 22,000 cats. We offer services to pets, ferals, strays, barn cats-any cat is welcome. We do have a strong focus on TNR and recently have been able to pursuade our local SPCA to adopt this rather than euthanasia as a humane option to the overpopulation problem.
If you are tired of corporate bean counters and no work to family balance then this is the job for you. Love cats? Then what more can you ask for.
We are looking for someone who enjoys and is skilled at surgery. In addition to spay/neuter, we offer enucleations, entropion, amputations among other services. You would be responsible for 15-20 surgeries per day plus we offer some wellness appointments. We do not offer diagnostics or dentals.
Optimally we would like someone who has some experience working on their own and 3-5 years of surgery experience. For the right candidate we would consider less experience as long as the enthusiasm for surgery is there.
This is basically a 9-5 job with no weekends, evenings, on call shifts, etc This is an upbeat work environment where you will feel satisfied at the end of the day with the good you are doing. We are flexible with hours/days and can pretty much work around your needs. Ideally we are looking for a part time surgeon, but will consider full time for the right candidate.
We have also recently started a cat cafe for adoptable cats in conjunction with our local SPCA. You can be involved in this as well, if you choose, but it is not required.
Must have or be willing to obtain a DEA and PA Vet license.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a positive change, make a good salary and still have time for a personal life.
We prefer 3-5 years surgery experience, but would consider less for the right candidate. Must have or be able to get DEA and PA vet license. Should be comfortable working with all types of cats, including ferals.
Must love cats and want to feel like you are making a difference at the end of the day.
Additional Salary Information: We also offer health insurance, paid holidays and vacations.
About Beckoning Cat Project
We are a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization that operates a low cost spay/neuter clinic for cats. We accept all cats and have no geographic or income limitations. Since opening our clinic in January 2014 we have spayed/neutered over 22,000 cats. We assist owners with TNR and work with local shelters in an effort to stop euthanasia as a means of population control for cats. When we started our local SPCA was euthanizing nearly 3,000 cats per year. They have just recently stopped euthanizing cats as a means of population control.
