The Department of Clinical Sciences at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) is seeking applicants for faculty positions in the field of (1) equine medicine; (2) production animal medicine; (3) and large animal surgery (including both equine and production animals). Dependent upon experience and qualifications, appointments will be made at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor levels. Suitable qualifications could include Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM), the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM) or the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Substantial appropriate clinical experience could substitute for the above in exceptional circumstances. The appointee could also be qualified in a relevant field, such as Animal Science, at PhD level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
We have positions open in equine and production animal related to internal medicine and surgery. The successful applicants would be expected to provide didactic and laboratory training to veterinary preclinical students. Classroom and laboratory teaching of veterinary professional students is estimated to constitute about 50% of professional effort. The remainder will be divided between research and institutional service. Faculty members are expected to develop extramurally funded research programs that include collaboration with other scientists, advising of graduate student research, and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- DVM or equivalent required. Ph.D. and board certification strongly preferred. - Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential. - Flexibility and ability to work well on a team. - Preference will be given to an applicant with proven teaching skills within the areas covered by the department. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Willingness to reside in St Kitts. Ranks and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Benefits: Salary is very competitive with US based universities and there is no income tax in St. Kitts which could result in a large increase to your net salary. As an expatriate, you may still be responsible to report income in your home country. Additional benefits include a significant relocation and repatriation package, health insurance, generous annual continuous education budget and annual travel benefit, geographical living allowance to offset cost of living differences, retirement match (up to 4% of your salary) and 7 weeks paid leave between semesters.
