Large Animal Veterinarian for Southern Indiana Practice
Farmstead Veterinary Service, PC
Third veterinarian needed for predominately equine, large animal practice. Unique opportunity to practice a broad range of skills, work with a large variety of patients, and enjoy life in a Big Ten college town. Caseload includes horses of many breeds and disciplines (70%), beef cattle (25%), small ruminants (4%) and camelids/others (1%). The practice provides ambulatory services, as well as haul-in and hospital care. Available equipment includes motorized dental tools, wireless digital radiographic equipment, digital ultrasound, endoscope, Abaxis in-house lab, and a breeding dummy. Routine medical, surgical, and preventative care, twenty four hour emergency services, equine sports medicine, and theriogenology are among the services offered. The practice has a family atmosphere with experienced veterinarians and staff ready to mentor new graduates. The practice is centered in Bloomington, a college town with unique character, located in Southern Indiana hill country. It’s known for Big Ten sports, as well as for abundant cultural and educational opportunities. It’s a great place to put down roots or raise a family. The clinic is located within 5 miles of Lake Monroe, a haven for boating, fishing, and swimming. Three beautiful State Parks and two National Forests are also within a short drive. We are looking for a veterinarian who will thrive in this environment, both personally and professionally. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, compassionate, ethical, and communicate well. The ability to work with all large animal species is required; a special interest in theriogenology is desirable. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefit package includes liability insurance, disability insurance, health insurance stipend, CE, professional dues and licenses, paid vacation, retirement plan and use of a practice vehicle. Bonus compensation will be provided for after-hour emergency calls. This position is full time, but flexible scheduling and extended leave during slower periods could be considered, if desired.
