Our clinic is a traditional, rural, mixed animal practice approximately 50% small animal and 50% large animal. Species include dairy, beef (mostly cow/calf), small ruminants, equine, camelids, elk, and occasional exotics. We currently have 3 full time, on call veterinarians and 1 veterinarian with no on call duties.
While we provide on farm, ambulatory service to clients, we also have a full service, indoor large and small animal facility. Large animal facility includes hydraulic squeeze chute and tub system, padded surgery room, surgery stocks for cattle and horses, and an isolation/IV calf room. Small animal facilities include a surgery room, procedures room, two exam rooms, indoor and outdoor kennels. We have on site CBC and serum chemistry instrumentation, digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscope, and Tonopen. We also have 3 portable ultrasounds for cattle reproduction work. We practice general preventative care, internal medicine, soft and orthopedic surgery services, and dental procedures. Our practice also provides reproductive work and herd health services for our large animal clients. We also provide emergency services for both large and small animal clientele. For cases beyond our scope, we have an excellent working relationship with referral clinics within a two hour drive.
Buhl (approximate population of 4500) is a close knit, farming community located approximately 20 miles west of Twin Falls. There is an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities nearby. Activities range from hunting and fishing, to camping and kayaking, and everything else in between within easy reach. Shopping and urban entertainment opportunities are available in Twin Falls (less than 30 minutes) and Boise (about 2 hours). A moderate climate makes for enjoyment of all seasons.
A new graduate will have the opportunity to gain experience and share knowledge with current veterinarians within our practice. We are looking for applicants with strong palpating/ultrasounding and large animal skills while being interested in the other species. We are a busy practice so we also encourage applicants with multi-tasking and strong personal skills to apply. Regular office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:30 pm and Saturdays 8:00-2:00 pm. Saturday's do not have scheduled surgeries and have only one veterinarian working. On call responsibilities with be shared on a rotating schedule between four veterinarians (one night a week and every 4th weekend). Because responsibilities will include ambulatory calls, a fully stock pickup with gas and insurance paid is provided for use. Compensation and benefits are competitive, with future buy-in potential.
Additional Salary Information: We also pay each veterinarian their emergencies fees they generated monthly. We do a yearly bonus based on a set of steers that are raised at the clinic.
