About the Community
Little Rock Arkansas was Kiplinger Report's number one for "Great Places to Live" as well as a top 10 Best Value City, and both for good reason. Little Rock is an ideal place to call home for anyone who loves to watch the season's change in a large city with a small-town atmosphere. If you or your significant other likes camping, hiking, canoeing, water sports, fishing or hunting, we've got a great back yard in which to do it. We are nationally known for trout/striped bass finishing as well as duck, dear and wild boar hunting. Crystal Bridges Museum of North West Arkansas is nationally known. We have local cultural events that the average American can actually afford (concerts and off Broadway shows) and you don't have to fight mobs or the traffic to get to them. Aerosmith and Paul McCartney have played in Little Rock, and someone is certain they saw Elvis at the local Dairy Queen recently. According to the James Beard Culinary Awards Foundation, we have some of the worlds best bar-b-que. Spring and fall bring numerous not to be missed events like bullfrog races of "Toad Suck Days" and watermelon seed spitting contest of the Hope Watermelon Festival. We have a state park where you can dig for real diamonds for that special someone (http://www.craterofdiamondsstatepark.com) and one with a hang gliding launch site (http://www.mountmagazinestatepark.com/things-to-do/adventure-activities/hanggliding), along with bicycle and horseback riding trails. The annual Little Rock Marathon is rated as one of the most grueling preps for the Boston Marathon and we are recognized by many rock climbers as a hidden gem. An easy two-hour drive finds you dining on Beal Street and touring Graceland. Three hours finds you sitting in a performance hall or shopping in Branson. Five hours drive gets you to the bustling Dallas Metroplex, live at the Grand Ole Opry, watching major league baseball in St. Louis or boating on the Lake of the Ozarks. And seven hours driving has you wondering through the French Quarter or wading in the gulf. Little Rock flies very affordable non-stop flights to Orlando, Destin, Las Vegas and LA.
