Critter Care Animal Hospital is a privately-owned, two-doctor practice started in January, 2018 serving dogs, cats, small mammals, reptiles, and birds in Centennial, CO.
We have grown rapidly and are seeking to add a part-time Associate Veterinarian. The ideal candidate will have excellent client interaction and communication skills and have at least one year of experience practicing veterinary medicine with a variety of species beyond cats and dogs.
Some things about us:
We believe in practicing excellent medicine (no television-vet junk-medicine shenanigans here). We have full anesthetic monitoring equipment, including capnography, state-of-the-art dental and full-body radiology, therapeutic laser and a full in-house lab.
There are no corporate overlords here.
Our build-out and our equipment was brand new in January 2018 so everything is still quite shiny.
The practice is a Fear Free Certified Practice and was built with FF in mind – spacious waiting room, large, comfortable, and bright exam rooms, species-conscious caging.
All new hires are required to complete Fear Free certification within 30 days of hire and Fear Free is a way of life here – this improves job satisfaction and makes our workers comp insurance quite happy.
We have a high staff-to-doctor ratio so we have skilled people to support you (2.5 to 3 staff per doctor is a typical day).
We work with traveling board-certified specialists: radiology, cardiology and surgery are all available.
Appointments are 30 minutes per pet, you’ll never get swamped with a half hour triple-patient appointment.
Surgical and dental cases are available but not a requirement of the position.
This position will have the opportunity but not the requirement to become full-time as the clinic continues to grow.
Pay is straight hourly/salary and is commensurate with experience to start. We believe in paying for quality not production.
We do not treat high risk species e.g. non-human primates, venomous animals, large carnivores, etc. We like to keep it real, not crazy.
Health insurance (employer pays entire premium for employee)
License fees (CO, DEA, USDA)
Personal pet care benefit
Fear Free certification costs covered (mandatory)
Holiday, sick, and vacation pay
Some things about you:
Colorado DVM License in good standing
USDA Accreditation (category II preferred)
Experience with exotic pet medicine including familiarity with husbandry requirements of common exotic pets.
Able to provide excellent client service and communication.
On-board with Fear Free practice.
Team player interested in consulting with colleagues and assisting in mentoring new employees.
Willingness to work 2 to 3 Saturdays per month in addition to 1 to 2 weekdays every week (range of 15 to 25 hours available).
